HTMs Sought For Research Study

Hello All,

I am a student in the graduate office for Quality Assurance at the California State University.  I am performing a research study related to Healthcare Technology Management.  Would you please forward this invitation to your membership?

You are invited to participate in a research study.  The purpose of this study is to understand the criteria U.S. hospitals consider when determining the types of medical devices they deem as Life Support or High-Risk/Critical, and to gauge the variability of this delineation across healthcare institutions.

Investigators:  This study is being conducted as a master’s thesis project in the department of Quality Assurance at California State University at Dominguez Hills. Donna Dyer (student) is conducting this study under the supervision of Keith Fulton, MSQA.

Purpose of the Study:  This study will survey U.S. Hospitals accredited by The Joint Commission to better understand which factors are taken account when performing risk assessments on medical devices, and when designating devices as Life Support and High-Risk/Critical as part of the medical equipment management program in effect at the facility.

Description of the Study:  You will be asked to participate in an online survey that asks about the criteria considered during medical equipment risk assessment, and the designation of Life Support and High-Risk/Critical equipment in the medical equipment management program at your hospital.  The survey should take approximately 10-20 minutes to complete.

Voluntary Nature of Participation:  Participation in this study is voluntary. You can cease participation and withdraw your consent at any time by closing your web browser.

Questions about the Study:  If you have any questions about this study or your rights as a participant, you may contact the investigator, Donna Dyer at, or the Institutional Review Board for the Protection of Human Subjects at CSUDH, 310-243-3756.

This link below will take you to a website that will provide you additional information, as well as a link to the survey.

Thank you in advance for your help,

Donna Dyer
